On 1 and 2 of April 2019 in the Conference Hall of the Cultural Center Harmanli, a Training of Wine Growers and Wine-makers was held on the topic: The correct techniques for processing the local varieties of grapes for improving the quality of the wine, organized under the project "Developing Identity ON Yield, SOil and Site" with acronym: DIONYSOS, as per subsidy contract No В2.6с.04/01.11.2017.
This is the first of the three trainings provided by the project activities, organized by the Haskovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is one of the eight DIONYSOS project partners. The lecturers Assoc. Prof. Dr. Iliyan Simeonov and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikolai Genov from the Institute of Viticulture and Wine Production in Pleven presented: The directions in the development of viticulture and wine production in Haskovo region; the stages, rules and methods for building new vine plantations as well as legislation; requirements and recommendations for vine planting material and methods for conservation of vines from economically important diseases and pests in Haskovo district. More than 30 wine growers and wine-makers took part in the training, who got acquainted with the results of the identification of local varieties of vines in the Dionysos surveyed vineyards by molecular (DNA) methods. The training ended with a discussion of the state, trends and problems of wine production in Haskovo region.
